Assembly Line Robots can boost Production

Robotic assembly line systems

Assembly line robots have become a solution in manufacturing specially when the workers perform repetitive motion injuries and manual task. The Six-axis robots or industrial robots are flexible for automation process. Thus, for the robot to perform the tasks will require to reprogram or redeployed the robot.

However, the robotic arm can handle from small electronic parts to large parts. In the case of electronic parts, a vision system is necessary to complete the robotic automation process.

Assembly Line Robots used in manufacturing

We can find three main types of Assembly line robots used in Manufacturing process.  See below:

Six-Axis Robots

Six-Axis Robots or Industrial Robots

Six-axis robot is commonly used for industrial manufacturing applications. Thus, we can find an assembly line robot working together assemble large components. Example of these industries are Aerospace or car industry.

In addition, these industrial robots perform multiple assembly applications including painting automation, welding, material handling, and material removal. Beside this, you can find a variety of payload from small to heavy and for a diverse assembly application.

SCARA Robots

This industrial robot has four axes allowing them to operate at high-speed making them one of the best options for small assembly process. As a result, they perform applications such as pick and place in operations that require high accuracy and speed.

These robot work much faster compared to six-axis robots. However, these robots can also work on cleanroom environment. For example, of SCARA ROBOT ARE:  KUKA KR SCARA KR 6 R500 Z200-2, KR 6 R700 Z200-2, ABB IRB 910SC, ABB IRT 920T, FANUC SR-6iA, FANUC SR-3iA/U, Yaskawa SG650 or Yaskawa SG400.

Delta Robots

These robots are excellent for lightweight assembly. However, these robots are precise and can work at high speed. Because of its parallel movement or motion of the system and small footprint, the DELTA robot is particularly suitable for precise pick-and-place tasks.

Delta robots go from light payload picking and/or assembly of small parts to work in food industry following high standards process of hygiene. Example of Delta robots are:  KUKA KR Delta, ABB IRB 360 FlexPicker, FANUC M-3iA/6S, and Yaskawa MPP3H

Industrial Robots Benefit Production-line

When people think industrial robots, they tend to think of six-axis robots in automotive industry performing heavy tasks.  Today, assembly line robots go beyond car industry, we see more opportunities for small assembly robots allowing manufacturers to optimise workflow, increase capacity and produce a wider range of products. So, whether manufacturers are looking to assembly line robot for automotive industry, assembly small parts or assembly line of processing food, assembly line robots offer the capability in all sectors of the industry.

Manufacturers usually add to the assembly robot’s vision systems and sensors, enabling them to pick up parts from a conveyor and joining them into the part that is incomplete. Thus, the features make robots ideal co-workers for complex product assembly lines.

For this reason, when equipped with this automated equipment, robots can easily accommodate products or even work on new lines just by reprogramming again, making them extremely useful in different areas on the production line.

The benefits of incorporating robots into the Production-line

The benefits of incorporating robots into their production lines are many. The main benefit is due to the robot’s functionality, robotic assembly line satisfies the changing demands of the manufacturing process especially in car manufacturing.

Also, robots are robust. So, they can last around 20 years with proper maintenance.  For this reason, the return on investment is a shorter-term period and faster.

Control Systems enhance robotic assembly line

Control systems are a set of mechanism to control the whole production line equipment. It is essential to install an electrical control panel to control the complete cell. This cabinet is electrically connected to the robot controller which make easy to have full control. In fact, the panel will include all the safety components including push-buttons and Estops, these will stop the robot in all modes.

However, control systems also include the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition [SCADA] system , Human Machine Interface [HMI] and the Programmable Logic Controller [PLC] programming.

Therefore, all this components would control car production line includinng the conveyor. This conveyor is a system that allow the parts or materials to move along the production line.

Finally, it is important to teach a coordinate system as a reference for the parts or stock placed on the conveyor and later for transfer to the offline programming package.
